With their purses being significantly lower than expected and only slightly higher than the Lemieux fight, the Financials of the fight didn't change much. They can probably break even around the 170k mark. I think 200k is a success and anything over is pure gravy.

People are like, it'll do bad, now let me stream it. Umm, ok.
If it does more than Ward/Kov, shunt the **** up.
These Fake ass boxing fans.
Even funnier, they want to quote the made up 97k number and put it against a Golden Boy put up numbers.
If your going to use the made up numbers forggg, use them for Canelo and Floyd.
Everyone ppv suck as of late. Then Canelo would have done 200k his last fight.
But they want to use made up numbers for only one fighter.

Why would this do any better than the Lemiuex fight? Does Jacobs have any more fans or carry any more weight than he did? I doubt it. I'd have to say between 97-150k lolComment
-
of course he's not. Last time it bit him in the azzz went on record saying the fight needed to do 200k buys but that he was expecting far more then that. Then the fight flopped and it did 150k. This fight cost more then the last fight to make and might do at or even less then the Lemieux fight. There is zero buzz still tons of tickets unsold and the 24/7 HBO put out got horrible ratings. And oh yeah it's in the middle of March Madness. Tommy boy will keep quiet so he can try and spin the bad numbers as a positive after the fact.Comment

Who cares how low the PPV are GGG still destroys Canelo. I mean 220 K PPV that Canelo had vs Smith are not much more than 97 K or 150 K that GGG got a year half ago.Comment

you say 97K or 150K blatantly leaving out the fact the most creditable report said Smith fight did 300k. So the real comparison is either we take the lowest numbers from BOTH or we compare the highest from both. So it's either 97k vs 220k or 150k vs 300k. You choose either way Canelo's worst PPV did DOUBLE GGG's. And Canelo/Smith was not billed as the biggest fight of his career like GGG's was and his opponent Lemiuex has actually fought in the US and headlined cards on HBO. Smith a pure unknown who NOBODY in the US or Mexico ever seen fight. Never been on US TV or fought on US soil. And still did it double what GGG did in PPVs and drew over 50,000 in attendance.
This is the problem with GGG groupies nobody would say Smith and Lemieux are comparable draws. Smith is closer to Wade who GGG fought on regular HBO and even with dirt cheap tickets ended up giving away tons of tickets for free. But this the game you guys play let me try and grab the low water mark to compare to GGG's biggest fight of his career against a bigger name...just so the numbers look kinda close. You don't want to talk about the Chavez numbers coming up or the Khan fight or the Cotto fight. Or the fact that if Canelo were fighting Jacobs there wouldn't be any tickets left for sale and nobody would be afraid to give a prediction on how many PPVs it would sell. You know why? Because Canelo is a bigger and proven draw. GGG has only 1 flop under his belt and his promoter is talking like he's ready to weather the storm for another.Comment
