Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns: Indongo is Risky Fight, But Confident I'll Beat Him

Promoter Eddie Hearn claims Ricky Burns refused easier options to take a "nightmare" fight with Julius Indongo. Burns will face the unbeaten Namibian for the WBA, IBF and IBO World super-lightweight titles to unify the division at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on April 15. The 33-year-old Scot became a three-weight world champion when he claimed the vacant WBA title by beating Michele di Rocco last year.

Indongo is a considerable underdog. This is a rare boxing match where there is actually a bit of value in the betting market.

Only watched him knock out the Russian but just the length of him, southpaw, can obviously punch a bit. Will probably put a bet on.

That said if Burns wins how can you not respect him? He's done so well.

Julius Indogo is arguably the weakest champion in boxing, well not really Lee Haskins is...but thats besides the point notice how Indongo goes straight into unification after icing Eduard Troyanovsky for the IBF? when this happens in boxing something is off. Also you know is it me or does the IBF have a contract with Eddie Hearn or something? all dem euro-bums always pick the weakest champion in each division ; incidentally they come from the IBF ranks.

      Britt + IBF = robbery.

I agree with this. What counts against Indongo is that Burns is so experienced and I could never see him getting caught by a telegraphed punch that ko'ed Troyanovsky. But if Burns was to eat a flush one like that, he'd probably sleep as well. It would have to be Indongo by KO for the wager.

Such BS. Indongo had beaten nobody before his last fight and got extremely lucky catching his opponent cold. Burns will outbox him over 12 rounds easily but just like at jr. lightweight and lightweight, Burns will never beat the elite and will never be the true champion of any division
