    Power punchers: Heavy handed fighters.

Where do guys like George foreman generate their power from?

Most of George's punches look sort of slow and lacking snap but he's just so heavy handed he drops guys without it looking like he's trying.

Does natural strength contribute to most of a 'heavy handed' fighters power?

Timothy Bradley is probably stronger than Pacquaio but he doesn't punch anywhere near as hard.

Where does the power come from with guys with heavy hands then?

      Genuinely interested.

It's not something you can see exteriorly. It has to do with a complex combination of genetic factors that effect muscle fibers, bone density, flexibility, reflexes, speed, leverage, torque, etc.

Besides obvious factors like size, technique, fitness level, there's no way you can really know how hard someone hits until they start hitting.

Proper technique, bone density, spread of fast twitch muscle fibres. A lot of it is generic and you're born with it but you can definitely work on it and hit decently hard once you get the technique perfect. Also dont worry about the "power", increase your speed and the power will automatically follow as mass x acceleration theoretically generates force.

Some good answers already provided, but definitely bone & muscle density, along with fast twitch fibers, and technique.

Actually the punches he scores Kos with aren't slow. He has perfect form on some of his KO punches. He turns the maximum amount of his weight possible into his best punches. He has lots of weight up in his shoulders and arms and that contributes to his punching power. The punch he KOed Michael Moorer with was a text book perfect straight right. It was straight from the shoulder and straight as an arrow. His feet were well planted and he turned his body into the punch.
