Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Closing Workouts at 179, Confident of Beating Canelo

At first it took a lot of work, but little by little the results of his training with conditioning coach Memo Heredia, and technique with experienced Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristin, have boosted the confidence of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The former WBC middleweight champion is preparing for a grudge match with fellow Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, which takes place on May 6th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

14.5 pounds for a boxer to lose in 7 weeks is NOT alot at all. 2 pounds a week. Should be easy if Jnr continues to be dedicated and stays focused. Beating Canelo is a whole other question, could be interesting due to size and strength difference.

Wow, he's really looking like he's getting in shape. I already consider this a moral victory for him.
