the fight panned out just as i thought he would. a volume puncher like barerra will always have problems with a strong boxer puncher. i saw this coming from a mile away. good win for barerra but i felt juarez won the fight.

in no way is he a wasted talent.

Maybe his Olympic roots have kept his boxing side more than being aggressive. Most people that join the Olympics aren't guys like Barrera, Pac, Morales who just loves brawling and fighting. These Olympic guys have the 'safety first, be smart' mentality in my opinion and they were thought that way.
i don't think this is the case, rocky was an awsome boxer/puncher, very aggresive when he had to be. look on the download thread i posted some of rockys amature fights

exactly, i just think rocky will only get better this is what he needed to fully awaken rocky, he had barrera just hanging by his bravery, a bit more pressure and punchs landed and juarea tko's barrera

the only real weakness i saw with rocky was that he was fairly intimidated by barerra's jab. sometimes you just have to clamp down on the mouthpiece and get in there and fight. i also felt rocky was a little intimidated by fighting a legend in barerra. i think with a few more fights of experience under his belt, he would of had a much easier time with barerra.

u r right about that. in the first few rds he was def intimidated a little but as he rds passed he gained confidence and said.. u know what i can def beat this man. and he did.

I think Rocky can still get better, but he probably needs some more help in his corner. He just doesn't seem complete at all, and because of that, if he gets somebody that is good for him, he might become a very good fighter that can hold a belt for some time.

I don't think he mixes up his punches enough, nor does he throw enough of the combinations needed.

He also should work on his movement...maybe do some sprinting drills to get him accustomed to chasing down opponents; that is if he doesn't already do this.

In response to the thread starter, I say, "yes."

It seems that it didn't occur to him to slip the jabs and counter with his power punch; he sprung back whenever Barrera came in during the early rounds. A puncher hunts, and when the prey is there, he punches/trades.

What's the point in hunting if you just spring back when the prey is there?

Barrera's face following the few hits landed by Rocky in the initial rounds is evidence of what could have been had Rocky started earlier what he eventually did anyway in the later rounds.
By the way, I agree with MAB winning the fight ever so slightly, aka, indicisively.
