Why as a boxing fan do you care? Haymon pays his fighters not on market value he pays from a warchest he embezzled with Wardell and Reed. Haymon has lost over 400 million on pbc thus far. They havent had a profitable promotion yet. Its a big ponzi scheme.

I really can't fathom how Stevenson even has any fans left. I respect all fighters, and I think Stevenson is a very good fighter (probably the 3rd or 4th best LH), but his opponent selection is atrocious.

By the way, this step aside money ain't news for Montreal folks, the monday morning after the Bute fight, Alvarez' team indicated that they would allow Stevenson to have a fight on April 29 as long as they had a written agreement from Yvon Michel and "whoever Stevenson was gonna fight on April 29th" that the winner would face Alvarez next.


Indeed, Alvarez has been the mando for a while but from a business point of view, the Bute fight made sense for him. He could either "cash out" vs Stevenson once or "cash out" vs Bute in a more "winnable" fight and then "cash out" a second time vs Stevenson. Plus, Bute is still a "big name" in Montreal (people were "shook" after his loss on February 24th) so beating him was a great way to "build up" a Stevenson fight here in Montreal.

No way was Alvarez fighting on April 29th, he flew to Colombia the week after the Bute fight to go see his wife and children who still live there who he hadn't seen in almost a year. Actually, himself said that he'd use to Bute money and the Stevenson money (which amounts to two 6 figure paydays) to bring his family to Montreal. By his own account, Alvarez ain't living the "fast life" right now in MTL, he lives by himself in an apartment.

So, let me get this straight, in a CO-PROMOTED event, GYM wanted to keep all the gate money and not give (Joe) Star Boxing any of it? I think YOU need to decide who's the one being greedy, friend.

I just wanted ALL of us to know what Smith's promoter was asking for and then we can each form our own opinion on if he was being greedy or not. Obviously you seem to think that he wasn't while My Low Place seem to think that he was.

If this isnt the solidified truth that PBC, Al Haymon, Lou Dibella, and the WBC are making a mockery of the sport of boxing with all these voluntary pbc bullcrap "defenses" against bums then I dont know what else to say.....

Stevenson hasnt fought HIS MANDO SINCE 2015....Where does this sound familiar? Oh yeah, Wilder has never faced a mandatory challenger! This is a disgrace and real boxing people have to start ignoring pbc and the wbc as a part of boxing. This paying off of alvarez to fight a bum like Monahan is the biggest joke ive seen thus far besides Wilders cherry picks.

Al Haymon should be banned from boxing forever for making a disgrace out of it.
