That would've been perfect and it would help promote a potential fight between Stevenson and the winner down the line.

They would had killed two birds with one stone. The fight (Barrera vs Beterbiev) would've had a venue AND TV station.

          The irony.

Just cause a fight was 'bought' for X amount of money it doesn't necessarily mean it will generate X amount of money. The fight could very well generate more than X amount then you would have the promoter going home with his pockets full while the fighters get **** for money.

            Exactly.

This isn't Bloodsport IV: The Dark Kumite where guys fight to the death with only their blood and honor on the line. It's a ****ing professional sport.

Any decent manager would kill his fighter for taking this kind of fight for 60k. Beterbiev's promoter can whine all he wants to the press, he doesn't want to pony up something reasonable so the fight ain't getting done.

Got a great point. This was about money everything else is just window dressing. There was no way Barrera was going to fight for 60k it's that simple. He wasn't scared to fight this man but refused to do it for peanuts. Hypocritical for the other camp to now pretend they don't understand this when they backed out 500k in the same situation.

Two Friday dates, and a Saturday date were the options noted by Yvon Michel; none of the dates line up with FS1.

The two Friday dates were likely eyeballed for SpikeTV, and the Saturday date would work pretty well for a Fox or NBC date (with ESPN also maybe being an option, too).

You add that it's only a title eliminator, and going to the stages being offered isn't all that bad a deal.

But shouldn't that be a promoter's job to get more money for his/her fighter? If yes, then Duva should have outbid GYM & let's be honest if Duva would have won the bid Barrera would have got 45K as opposed to 62K..
I'm all for a better purse for a fighter if that is what your management/promoter guarantees you (like RocNation did for Kov vs Ward)..
If your own promoter throws you under the bus & you didn't even sign the contract but your promoter thinks you did, then ME & Team Barrera needs to sit down & discuss amongst themselves..

Although they turned down Ward & wanted 300K, turned down Kovalev for sometime in the future..
Can't blame Team Beterbiev in this case

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Main Events has never put forward a good faith negotiation with Yvon Michel, and Michel wasn't going to bother with acting like these talks would be any different.

Seems like Barrera team screwed this up. Makes Main Events look bad honestly, it is like Barrera didn't know what he was gonna make until last week while Main Events clearly had to know what the split was so maybe they assumed Barrera would be OK with that SPLIT I don't know but it looks on Barrera which is unfair to him
