He's with main events. If you aren't Kovalev they aren't going to get you any fights. They'll rely on other promoters to get you fights against their fighters. When was the last time main events was a lead promoter in an event that didn't involve Kovalev?

Haha Gamboa's a ****** and Rigo's not far behind. Boxing is a meat grinder for all but a very select few. We don't know exactly what happened here with Sullivan, but it looks like the same old story of these Cuban dudes clashing with a system they know absolutely nothing about.

No doubt. I support these guys when they do right, but I refuse to deny the truth. Funny how sometimes the least likely person you thought you'd like is exactly the one you wind up with. Barthelemy is my current favorite Cuban fighter. Lol

Whats like the last 4 or 5 paydays Barrera has gotten? I'd assume $75k is excellent for him. He's got a lil bit of a name, but he's got virtually no fan base or ticket selling ability & he only gots 1 W that matters. What exactly was he expecting here another half a mill-ish like he got for Ward? I gotta figure worse case this is his 3rd best payday & he's 35 years old. His career is burning daylight.

I guess fair play doe cuz if Beterbiev, Stevenson or Kovalev call on him in the coming months he'll get more than $75k I imagine. Its a gamble, but my assumption is it'll pay off.

The fight was two weeks out and didn't have a venue. I want to see this fight but something strange was going on here. No venue. No promotion. No tickets being sold. Barrera had every right to be skeptical.

Why do you say 2 weeks away? I remember reading reports of early April. I don't believe any official date was ever announced.
