culcay is not there to counter like i said...hell he was so far out of the pocket that andrade had no fear of counters..he'll know wat distance he is at in the ring..he's been there his whole life..if u think lara can just depend on him making a reaching mistake for 12 rounds you go ahead with that assertion...just like lara did with vanes he will find on the world level that doesnt work for 12 rounds and u will have to step closer to the pocket and us more than pull counters and distance deception to land shots...

Do people still think 154 is the best weight class in boxing?
I'm not saying it's a bad division at all. I think it's up there, as one of the better ones, but it's not the best like a lot of people were saying.
It's an American weight division so I shouldn't be surprised as to why it has a lot of hype.
Hurd and Jermell Charlo aren't anything special. Andrade is one of the better guys there and I don't think he's more talented than a lot of other fighters in other weight classes.
I do wonder if Andrade is having trouble making weight though.
This guy has been saying for years that he struggles to make weight.
Even as an amateur, when he fought at Welterweight (152lbs), he didn't have the easiest of times making that weight.
If Andrade wants to do something big at 154 he has to do it sooner rather than later, obviously. I would still favor Andrade over most at 154 but he wouldn't want the weight to become an even bigger issue.Last edited by HI-TECH Boxing; 03-11-2017, 10:52 PM.Comment

Magomed Kurbanov will make that division more interesting in 2-3 years, considering his chin is good enough to take a solid punch - that's my only question mark about him, because he's great in other aspects of the game, especially for being only 21 and he's entertaining to watchDo people still think 154 is the best weight class in boxing.

I agree. I was quoting you to definitely let you know that I agree with you.Comment

Andrade looked great against Rose and Nelson who were both pretty static with leaky high guards but he looked a lot less than great against his two best opponents Martirosyan and Culcay. He's certainly in the top 3 or 5 at 154 and might be similar at 160 but he isn't quite as good as some have suggested he is.Comment

Refreshing to see another rational poster on here. It was a 50/50 before this fight and still is. Most people in this forum either don't know as much as they think they know about boxing or they're casual fans passing themselves off as knowledgeable boxing fans. Their ridiculous comments expose them everytime.I guess you are no fan of Andrade
And you are not giving Culcay, a tough nut to crack any credit!
To say Lara takes Andrade apart based on this fight is a bit of a "rush to judgment" and I am a BIG Lara fan.
For my money, it will be a 50/50 fight.
I am absolutely sure of that.Comment

If anything, Culcay is better than anyone thought he is. He gained mutch respect with that Performance and is a Top10 fighter in that Division. He could be more successfull in a lower weight class though. He should move down to 147 or 140.
And Andrade is not that Monster some People thought he is. i think he got exposed a bit last night even though he won it.Comment

Very disappointed in Andrades performance, his opponent was awkward and kept diving in, but Andrade should have used his reach advantage more and box him from the outside. I thought too often Andrade was happy to stand and trade with Culcay when he should have been using his superior boxing ability.
Andrade clearly won the fight but it wasn't an impressive performance by any means.Comment

I immediately thought Culcay needs to lose 7 lbs and get down to WW. 14 lbs may be a tall order. If anything, Culcay is better than anyone thought he is.
