Floyd likes to say he is The Best Ever, but fans say he ducked Manny Pacquiao until Pacquiao got knocked out by Marquez and his prime ended. Fans say SRR and SRL both went up to middleweight. Fans say Floyd picked and choosed his opponents carefully, and never fought the truly elite, dangerous threats during their primes.
Floyd is a clever man who always has a slick plan up his sleeve, and if he wants to truly top everything he has achieved thus far, there is one way to do that as well as defeat all those criticisms in one single night. It even comes with the cherry on top of showing up and completely humiliating his past foes and rivals Oscar de la Hoya and Canelo Alvarez.
Here is how. If GGG beats Jacobs next saturday, rumor has it he will fight BJS in June. If he beats BJS, he will hold every middleweight belt.
This is what Floyd can do. After GGG wins the last belt to become undisputed middleweight champion, all Floyd needs to do is tweet, "I hear GGG wants to fight Canelo in the fall, but we all know Oscar de la Hoya and Canelo are too chicken to take the fight. Only a real champion, TBE, can beat Golovkin. Since Canelo was going to duck him anyway, I am ready to become undisputed middleweight champion of the world by fighting GGG in September at 155 pounds."
He can upstage SRL in one night. Not just winning one belt, winning every belt. Of course 155 still isn't 160 but I don't think anyone would care. Floyd has said GGG is basic, and Brook exposed him, so he would be able to beat him easily. Floyd also told Stephen A. Smith that he could beat GGG easy. So I know Floyd believes he can do it. And we also all know people buy Floyd PPVs not based on the names or nationalities, but based on the risk of Floyd losing. The higher the odds of Floyd losing, the more people will pay to hopefully see that. Floyd fighting GGG would be perceived by the fans as an even greater chance of seeing Floyd lose than when he fought Canelo or Pacquiao. I'm not saying the PPV would beat the Pacquiao numbers, since that had built for years, but I think it would come close. That fight would get talked about in the media just as much as May-Pac. Because they knew Pac was past it. Most media said Mayweather would win in a boring fight.
This is different. This, the media would actually say, not only is it being marketed as the fight of the century, but it's actually going to be. GGG actually does still have the power to hurt him. Floyd actually does have a large chance of losing. Hell, when was the last time Floyd came into a fight as the underdog? How many people would pay to see Floyd in the ring with someone where he has a better chance of losing, and perhaps getting knocked unconscious, than he has of winning?
This fight would be a huge financial success. And if Floyd is successful, this is literally the only fight out there where he could eclipse past legends, and turn his claim of "TBE" from a joke into perhaps the truth, all in one night. It is literally set up perfectly in every way for Floyd, with GGG even willing to come down to Floyd's second weight class. And according to Floyd, GGG is the perfect style for him, that slow, "basic" Mexican/euro style.
In other words, everything is in place for Floyd, exactly how he would want it if he could set it up on a chess board. All the elements are there. The only thing that could prevent it is if Floyd doesn't actually think he can win. Otherwise, there's no way he would turn down another 200+ million bucks, and four legitimate middleweight belts, and the history those represent.
I guarantee you guys, if Floyd even hints that this fight is possible this September, all the GGG-Canelo talk would disappear in two seconds. No one would give a **** about GGG-Canelo anymore. GGG-Floyd is the fight, and it has always been the fight, on so many levels. GGG-Canelo would be a great action fight, and the biggest test of GGG's career, but that's it. It lacks the other elements. GGG vs Floyd, on the other hand, has every element. It has more elements tied up in one single fight than perhaps any fight in boxing history outside of like Louis vs Schmelling and other politically-themed fights. But as it relates to boxing, this fight would trump GGG-Canelo in almost every way. The only question is, is Floyd really TBE, or is he all talk?
Because with everything setting up so perfectly for Floyd, like a Hollywood script, with GGG even willing to come down to 155, I know for a fact TBE would not pass up a golden opportunity like that. A pretender who is blowing smoke when he tells Stephen A Smith he can easily outbox GGG would pass it up, but TBE? Nah man, TBE would jump at the chance to make hundreds of millions of dollars, become undisputed middleweight champion, upstage the past greats he says he's better than, and humiliate Oscar and Canelo. TBE would be ALLLL over that.
Will Floyd be?
