If Mayweather fought Thurman right now I think it could easily generate atleast 1.5 million buys. A Canelo could easily generate over 2.5 million as well. Can McGregor generate that much? The most lucrative fight to me is still a Canelo rematch.

its not just the causals mma fans that wouldnt buy it. most real mma fans know its a mismatch. NOT all mma fans is a mcgregor fan.Would a McGregor fight really do big business? I wouldn't buy that fight. Some of the casuals that follow MMA wouldn't buy it either. They know its a mismatch. I don't know that it would necessarily do big business to cover Mayweather's 100 mil guarantee. I'd buy a Mayweather-Thurman or Mayweather-GGG PPV. Hell I'd probably buy Mayweather-Canelo 2 also. McGregor might be an MMA favorite but would it really translate to PPV buys? McGregor sells 1.65 PPV to UFC fans. Will he carry all of those PPV's and will boxing fans actually fork out dough to make it big business? Thats the perception but I'm not sure thats reality. Most boxing fans know its a mismatch and most mma fans also know their guys will likely lose in a boxing match. You don't necessarily pay to see your guy lose. All the pay to see Mayweather lose crowd might not necessarily pay for a fight he will definitely win. +
so i dont know why boxing fans keep getting this idea that its gonna be boxing fans vs mma fans and that all mma fans is gonna side with conor lol.
the mcgregor fans will come out in full force to show their supoort, there's no denying that. but not all mma fans is gonna root for conor. yall brazy!Comment

You sound like a guy who lubes up his FMjr blowup doll every nite, when you take a break from putting its dong in your mouth realize that just because people criticize a match up they are not racist. We know it's true yall mad because a black man is the biggest name in combat sports. For 2 years straight y'all racist taunted him about Rousey and McGregor until the great white hypes quit like b1tches. And I wouldn't even mention GGG no-one knows him and you racist would just say he drained after Floyd beats him. Like Canelo was too green lmao or Pacquiao shoulder was torn lmao.Last edited by mapleleaf27; 03-11-2017, 03:15 PM.Comment

I agree. Two polarizing fighters but the drama of who will win just isn't there. I think that would really hurt PPV numbers to be honest. With the Canelo rematch there is intrigue. Maybe Floyd has slowed just enough for a prime and bigger Canelo to get revenge. Maybe Thurman can box and punch well enough to get a decision. Mayweather would be favored but those atleast aren't forgone conclusions the way a McGregor scrap is. I watched that Mcgregor-diaz fight in a standing room and a large majority of that crowd was pro diaz to your point.its not just the causals mma fans that wouldnt buy it. most real mma fans know its a mismatch. NOT all mma fans is a mcgregor fan.

You guys are crazy, man. You either have zero idea how big both guys' fan bases are (yes, the haters count--especially count!), or you're just trying to drum up hate bc you hate it.its not just the causals mma fans that wouldnt buy it. most real mma fans know its a mismatch. NOT all mma fans is a mcgregor fan.

They are mega with celebrities, so the social media promotion, alone, will be record-setting.
Add to that the circus that both guys will put on? They're best-in-show. They're be entourage drama, twitter wars, etc...
But, I think you know this bc you seem knowledgeable otherwise. What I think you're perhaps missing is that May/PAC wasn't a mega event bc the world wanted to know who'd win. Far from it. Only diehards gave a **** about the outcome (I was a big fan of pac's fights, so I was literally on the edge of my seat). But most people at the fight parties around the globe were talking about other ****, on the patio occasionally checking back in, etc...
Point is, may/PAC was just the event of the moment. The content of the event itself matters very little.
Entertainment media produces these gems (Oprah/lance interview, Tyson/givens interview, etc... and then add your top 3 guesses at boxing's biggest event).
This is going to be bigger than that. Without a doubt. (Just a quick example: Monster energy is massive w millennials, and they'll promote the **** out of this)
Those dudes just bought the UFC for $4.5 billion and their tent posts (rousey, Jon jones, Brock) are all out of contention. You don't think they're sweating balls right now? (and after the Khabib embarrassment?)
You better believe that the UFC is going to put their promotion on in absolute overdrive. And you know Floyd is always down to show the game how it should be played.
Anyway, sorry for the essay. Took an edible and got lost in the internet. Put simply, I do think you're sleeping on this as an event. It will be a monster, sirs.Comment
