Now there's a fighter I miss badly, along with Paul Williams. Such fun times having them around at 154–160.

Whenever anyone say anything positive about Chavez it's that he has potential to be good, not that he's actually good. Where the **** did this Chavez Jr potential meme come from? It's based on absolutely nothing.

I can see why due to his size he has a shot. But did anyone see him vs a blown up Brian Vera at light heavyweight? Vera was a MW who went up 2 weightclasses for a payday and probably should've won, I had winning that first fight. The guy was at his best at MW, where he always had upset potential as he showed when he beat Lee, Dzinzuruk, Mora, and that Chavez Jr fight should've been his 4th upset of his career but he was robbed.

Anyway, Canelo is not as tall/long as Vera so he will have more issues, but he's a better boxer than Vera. The guys who did very well vs JCC had better height and reach than Canelo. Canelo at 5'9" 70" reach I think will have to fight Chavez Jr inside not outside like Martinez and Vera did. They got away with it because of their reach. Martinez 73", Vera 73", same as Chavez Jr 73".

the thing about canelo is his footwork, if he can't avoid chavez jr like martinez did, he might be force into a brawl vs a bigger man. that's what interests me about this fight

Canelo will welcome chavez, he won't brawl, he will counter like he did to angulo, chavez cant bring all the preassure and it will fall directly to canelos hands... it will make it easier to canelo...
