''If We Look At Marciano's record, he Fought a Bunch of DUCKS!'' - Floyd

This is how I see it but will add that there should be an asterisk next to those 49 wins. The fact is, Marciano should have taken an L in the first La Starza fight. Also, Marciano dropped a decision in an amateur bout while in the middle of his pro career.Marciano didn't have the best opposition. One of the reasons he was so popular was his crude slugging style. He just kept throwing punches until the other guy was beat down. His nose was split wide open by Ezzard Charles and the fight was probably going to be stopped. Rocky knocked him out two rounds later. That's the kind of stuff that builds legends. I can't imagine him beating Joe Louis when Joe was in his prime. Stranger things have happened but it's highly unlikely. No he wasn't he best heavyweight but one of the most relentless for sure.Comment

1 Champion per division in Marcianos Era, had Marcianio have 5 champions in his divisions he would have beaten more. It is obvious and the "More champions" argument doesn't work when there are 5 champions in the division right now.Comment

Your missing the point Rocky was exciting Floyd isn't. He used to be when he was in the lighter weight classes. Floyd was incredible at the lighter weights.Comment

That's not true on Robinson, nor does it relate context. Floyd fought 22 guys who won belts; 11 were current/former lineal champs. Robinson fought 17 world champions who were all of the single champ variety (just on a quick spot check) in about 45 fights over the course of his 25 year career. That is to say Robinson had almost as many fights against champions as Mayweather had fights period. That doesn't include slews of strong top ten contenders like Tommy Bell, Georgie Abrams, Rocky Castellani, Jose Basora, Steve Belloise (and that's just a sample)...all the type of guys who would win belts in a 4 title era like now. There's some padding, but it was an era where guys made money by staying active. He didn't win them all but you're talking about a guy who was 131-3 when he made his comeback where he picked up most of his losses and still managed wins over Fullmer, Basilio, Moyer, his favorite working over pal (Olson) and Dupas before he was done.
Robinson's record, on paper, scoffs at all but a handful of fighters who ever lived. And its deep as hell. To imply otherwise is in error.Comment
