This fight has already sold more tickets and faster then canelo/cotto so it's guaranteed to shatter the live gate when he fought cotto 12.5m (13th highest live gate in Vegas history beating out Mayweather/Cotto). The demand is clearly high for this fight. That's why they priced these closed circuit tickets this high. Its about business. Fans who didn't land a ticket or couldn't afford it will gladly drop $75 come to Vegas to party and watch the fight. You don't sell out and then say let's just charge 10 bucks for closed circuit. This is a big event.

Well I will tell why that is. ROCNATION and the Arena.

Cotto vs Canelo could have sold alot more, the planning of that event and the venue was poor selection. The Mandalay Bay was so small for that event trust me I went, bought tixs for 175 and was at the very top but the seats were fabulous.

But RocNation screwed up because that Arena the price difference in tickets was horrible the people in front of me paid 600 for there tickets because of the seat selections in that small arena.

IF Cotto vs Canelo would have been at the t-mobile center trust me it would have done as well if not better.

I agree there Roc Nation was over their heads. Golden boy was forced to do most of the heavy lifting hamstrung by roc. This time it's just golden boy who knows what they are doing and it is on a Mexican holiday. Canelo/Cotto was the better fight on paper but this is promoted better so will generate more money at the gate and maybe ppv buys.

Yeah, tickets for Canelo vs Smith started at $40. I know Smith is a nobody but I've also been to multiple big fights at msg where prices stated around $60. Find it odd to charge $75 for a closed circuit viewing of a fight.

Because it was a football stadium NOT a small basketball arena ...the ticket prices for Smith fight was

            $750, $500, $300, $200, $100, $85, $50 and $40

The avg price was well over 100.
I was looking to buy tickets for this fight and Ticketmaster had very few $40 tickets on sale and they went quick like the first day they went on sale. They advertised $40 to draw fans in but once you started looking at tickets you needed to spend $85 and up to get anything. I bet out of the 50,000 tickets they sold not even 1,000 were at the 40/50 price range.

And this fight is in Vegas Smith fight wasn't. So ticket prices are higher and closed circuits are usual for big vegas fights.

I'm aware of the venue aspect but still think $75 is excessive for a closed circuit. As far as ticket sales compared to cotto vs Canelo, I don't know if you have a link to back that up but I don't see this fight getting anywhere near cotto vs Canelo in ppv. sales or the demand for the fight being the same. Cotto for a long time was the 3rd highest ppv fighter among active fighters behind only Floyd and pac. Chavez Jr is not anywhere near that level as has done nothing but disappoint his fans for 5 yrs.

The ticket prices are near identical but because Canelo/Chavez is in a bigger venue and already sold all their tickets it's guaranteed it will have a larger live gate. It's simple math. Canelo/Cotto sold 10k tickets

Canelo/Chavez has sold more tickets (20K) at a faster rate. You talking about what you think is a better fight and I'm telling you facts this fight has more momentum and money being shelved out for it at this stage then Canelo/Cotto did. Some of that is because Roc Nation left money on the table by not stepping aside and letting Golden Boy promote this by themselves, some is they are in a better venue, some of that is because this fight is on a mexican holiday, ect. Canelo/Cotto was a better fight on paper but this might make more MONEY and definitely will make more money from live gate and close circuit. We'll see how the PPVs look but everything is trending to monster numbers.

I tried buying the cheap tickets for Canelo/Chavez as soon as it was up and never could. I know zero people who got them. I think the Casinos took them all???

Man Cotto vs Canelo issue was the Venue point blank. I was on the phone 5 mins before they went on sale with ticketmaster. The lady could not sell me the tickets because as soon as they went on sale they were unavailable. For many reasons they held back tickets by the hotel, promoters, etc. Even the pre sale tickets were unavailable. Trust me I jumped hoops to get tickets. The tickets were not as easily available as for the Chavez vs Canelo fight. The Mandalay should never ever be a venue for a big crowd size event.

If the fight would have been at the MGM I would have put it #4 on that list. I was at the gate and the amount of people eager to buy tickets was insane.
