World Boxing Super Series was very clear about which organizations they would involve and the IBO was not one of them.

Because the IBO advertises on this website, the IBO is listed in this article, even though it's factually incorrect.

What kind of journalism is that?

One thing I'm curious about is why did they choose to start the tournament at the start of football season in the U.S.

Honestly, De La Hoya shoulda just put hands on Schaefer and Haymon then squashed the beef. A man never forgets an ass whoopin no matter who or how rich and powerful they think they are. De La Hoya aint a G though and took an L in business and court.

I hope the WBSS works because it's a great idea but the only problem is the politics and egos involved. Everybody has to work together it's hard to see Arum, Haymon and ODLH working together with no issues.

Considering the seminfinals are slated in Jan-Feb (I am assuming the most marketable matchup so to be post Super Bowl and prior to March Madness) and the tourney Finals slated for May (thus avoiding the NBA for finals and heart of MLB season), it's probably the most logical time to kick it off.

You also have the Cinco De Mayo (now a popular boxing holiday) in May to use for your Finals.
                Just speculating, though.

Probably plan on marketing to that demographic.

I'm thinking maybe it'll be more centered around European fighter since they have a European promoter & TV rights in Europe have been sold. When does soccer season start in Europe?
