World champion Joseph Parker will mix up his in-fight tactics in an attempt to defend his WBO title against Hughie Fury. The 22-year-old Fury, cousin of disgraced former champion Tyson, was confirmed as Parker's first title challenger on Wednesday. The May 6 bout will be held at Auckland's Vector Arena, the scene of Parker's triumph over Mexican-American Andy Ruiz in December to claim the vacant WBO belt.

Makes sense - Hughie and Ruiz are two completely different fighters, a horses for courses approach is the smartest.

Hughie isn't going to push the pace and get inside like Ruiz did, so it's up to Parker to create pressure and try and break him down. I genuinely believe Parker fights better when he's at a reach and height disadvantage - he's at his best when he's throwing punches and working the body, and he just isn't as natural and smooth when fighting off the back foot - as we saw in the Ruiz fight. He's good, and he did enough to win, but people want to see Parker showing off that power.

I expect Parker to break Hughie down in 7 or 8 rounds - I don't think Hughie can **** for long enough, and he doesn't have enough power to make Parker respect his punches. It won't be a Parker-Dimitrenko demolition job, but at the very least, Hughie's pitter-patter punches won't be enough.
