62k is pretty light but he knew that figure, he should have balked right away and I would have felt that more. I can still feel it but he isn't getting any younger and how many opportunities will he get to really break through even for short green.

barrera wont fight at all this year if he keeps pricing himself out.

He's a professional boxer. He needs paying well to fight Beterbiev. Anyone does. $35k after expenses would be the definition of low reward high risk.

The fault is not with the fighters but more so the promoters. They aspire to represent and promote world class boxers but are unable to promote sufficiently well to ensure that their boxers are adequately compensated (never mind well rewarded) for a fight of this nature.

But still...$62k for a fight between 2 top 10 guys. He won't see 50% of that purse when all fees/taxes are paid. The man has a family, he could be promised $150k for his next fight, it doesn't make $62k right. Who knows how much he got for Shabranskyy? $30k? Maybe he's tired of fighting for virtually free all for the selfish fans entertainment who would say no if they were in his shoes too.

62K he would be lucky to get out of it with 10k. Since this is a winning purse bid from another promoter, his own promoter will shave a fee from his purse. He would also have to pay his trainer, manager, sparring help, tax man etc along with all the nickel and dime expenses.

Man only $62k? You can't buy anything at JC Penny for $62K...

I wish HBO or Showtime would have put up some money for this fight. It's a good matchup, and Beterbiev is certainly the kind of fighter you'd want on your network. 62K isn't much, but this is still a bad look for Barrera.
