    Pathetic article.

People tune in to see the best fight the best, to see who's really the best. That's the intrigue.

Like the guy above said, in other sports, football for example, when the top teams clash, both are often cautious and the game ends 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1, but people will still tune in the next time they're playing. It's common sense.

Sure, we'd all love for the fight to have been another legendary Castillo-Corrales moment. But you don't always get that and it should be perfectly fine that this happens sometimes in our sport just like it does in others.

I wish the boxing writers would stop trying to run down the event and overshadow the great news with negativity. Whether they do it out of sincere feelings or because they are friends with certain rival promoters.

      True......

Part of the issue with boxing is people even knowing who the top guys are. Thurman is now being known as a top guy, it may not have been a great fight but he became more known as a top guy.

Being known and viewed as a top guy is very important.

Important fight for sure. But it WAS pretty uneventful. If you are a casual stumbling onto the fight not knowing the significance of the fight you would probably shut it off. Nobody is honestly watching that fight twice unless they hate themselves.

This guy DKSAB. Thurman did a great job in surprising Garcia with a heated early start. He usually takes a while to get busy. Then sensing that he was ahead & Garcia was desperate to catch him, Keith boxed. Whether casuals would tune in to network tv to see the rematch is moot, as it will surely be PPV.

yeah i dont understand it, swear i watch different fights to people on here. Garcia v thurman wasnt a bad fight, not a classic but only 1 percent of fights are. Ward v kovalev was a complete dud other than it had talking points.

I think casuals probably loved the first round and that set the bar too high for the rest of the fight.

Honestly through round 9 no one has anything to complain about, but I can see how the last 3 rounds could turn away casuals.

All in all I think last Saturday was a good night for our sport and hopefully gained it some new fans.
