Comments Thread For: Abel Sanchez: Lemieux-Stevens a 50-50 Fight; It Could Be Boring

Abel Sanchez knows a lot about David Lemieux and Curtis Stevens. Gennady Golovkin's trainer studied both boxers closely while preparing the undefeated middleweight champion to stop each of them. That's among the reasons Sanchez and others in his gym in Big Bear, California, have talked so much recently about the Lemieux-Stevens fight Saturday night.

It'd be a shock if it was a stinker.
I see Lemeiux pushing the fight and Stevens standing his ground. Makes for fireworks!

I have Lemieux catching up to Stevens and slowing him down. From there it is a question of time. I also think Stevens is more used to losing, more accepting. Lemieux will have convinced himself that Rubio was a freak loss and that Golovkin is a once in a generation enigma.

A common opponent is Hassan N'Dam. This guy has better feet than Stevens but lemieux caught up with him - so I'm thinking Lemieux can catch up to Stevens. This should be a great fight. Plenty of punches landed.

Lemieux has staying power as he showed with Golovkin. I'm not sure Stevens does. Lemieux stoppage second half of fight.

If David had not respect for GGG's power, he wont in this fight either. I see David landing couple bombs and Curtis trying to figure him out while getting clocked again with the right somewhere in mid rounds lol

I don't think it will be boring. I give the edge to Lemieux, but it all depends on which Stevens show up. He has the tendency to put in some stinker performances but he does have the skills and enough power to make it an interesting fight.
