Comments Thread For: Malignaggi's Exit Puts an End To Unlikeliest of Fight Journeys

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Go ahead and claim that you saw it coming. On second thought, don't bother. Because no one of sound mind would believe especially upon playback of Paulie Malignaggi's desultory rematch against Lovemore N'Dou in 2008 that the fighter toting the "Magic Man" nickname and the dreadful hair extensions would be anything approaching memorable a decade later...

I always liked paulie, until he started that accusing pacquiao of steroids without any real proof. I feel if you do that, and you can't prove it, that's some ****ery. so after that, I always felt like damn paulie, if u feel the man is such a cheater, then there's only one way to deal with it- call his ppl, and get vada involved, fight him, and show how you can beat him, if he's clean. and i wanted that fight so bad, because i feel like drugs or not, paulie could never beat many, and thats just real. manny has been mopping dudes up since he was 16, with no amateur career. he learned on the job. I don't even like manny as a person with his Christian bs and supporting duterte, etc. **** manny. but right is right and wrong is wrong

Paulie was a very good fighter and an even better commentator. He deserves our respect. He has had no fear of showing up to a gun fight with a 22. whether his opennent had an submachine gun (like Kahn) or 44 mag (like Cotto). He's fought the best, and while he came up short against his best competition , he beat some pretty good fighters along the way. I can see why his mouth has turned some people off, but I love him. A while back, a great poster on here mentioned to me that "if youre not listening too his podcast then your missing out" and he was right.

Paulie has been fighting in the ring almost as long as he's been fighting his sexuality. Now he's free to pursue little Asian men that he bizarrely & inappropriately obsesses over.

Dude, getting a fight with pacquiao isn't as easy as just getting his people on the phone and getting him in vada (neither of which would have happened). Also if you don't think pacqiuoa was on peds during his de la hoya - hatton - Cotto run then you are extremely naive. Paulie speaks the truth, pacquiao is a phony. Having said all that any version of pac beats Paulie.

Once again Boxing Scene demonstrates the base level befitting it's forum.
No mention of what Paulie demonstrated in the Cotto fight, which by the way, played a good part in the name he has now.
Just a narrow window which can't see what he achieved with his given talents and notable lack of punch power. It is something 99%+ of fighters couldn't do.
Still, I should expect no less from this site.

Who did he beat? People are out here acting like Paulie had great wins. But his biggest win was for the WBO-NABO title against Juan Diaz who got exposed twice before that fight. Zab Judah was old and past it. I guess beating Senchenko is enough to have a "very good career" lol. Low standards.

              Paulie's a bum.

I respect Paulie as a boxer and fighting the top guys when he was always outgunned. But, I lose respect for him for his constant and unprovoked attacks on Pacquiao. He really has it in for him because of his loyalty to Mayweather. As a commentator he needs to remain neutral and unbiased, which is impossible today with the likes of Lampley, Kellerman, Ranallo and other network yes-men on the payroll. I was really hoping to see his final fight against Pac and watch him get mauled. Oh well, now we'll have to suffer through his nasally, whiney voice on SHO.

Every person has someone they dislike. I'm sure Paulie's mouth turned a lot of people off but the dude was all heart none the same.

Paulie may not have had the power, strength or skills of other fighters, he may have been outboxed, pummeled and broken down, but he can rest his head high knowing that he never did let them brag about taking his side piece.
