Khan fires out challenge to Mayweather

    By David Kelly

    20 May 2006
Amir Khan has thrown down an audacious challenge to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather as he prepares for his seventh professional test in Belfast tonight.

The bullish Bolton teenager believes he has mastered the four-round distance to such an extent he could give the American superstar a run for his money - and would even cross the Atlantic to prove it.

Khan is brimming with confidence after a dazzling start to his professional career, which extends to seven fights against Hungarian Laszlo Komjathi at a sold-out King's Hall.

Khan said: "Talent-wise I am already one of the best fighters in the world over four rounds. I would love to have four rounds with Mayweather. I am as quick if not quicker than him and I can sustain a fast pace non-stop."

Khans talkin ****,he'd get his ass kicked all day if he was ever to step in wid Floyd

Khan may well be better than Floyd in the near future though.

A 4 rounder sideshow between Mayweather and Khan would be entertaining at least.

i respect khans for having the balls to say this, and even fight mayweather in america but either fight for 12 rounds or don't call out floyd, leon spinks fought 12 round fight against ali and won.

Everyone here knows im a huge mayweather fans (Check some of my posts), I do believe khan is as fast as mayweather but not now, when khan is a bit older like 22 or 23 i would love to see him against mayweather, imagine both are undefeated 4 years later and a super fight happens between them

4 rounds. What does 4 rounds mean in the pros? Khan getting carried away with himself. Wait til you grow up, boy.

Dang , I like his ball's and been tryna see more and more of him but I agree that's like racing a 40 yard dash and saying I'll beat you thru 20 yard's(AND!). I like that he says he'll come to America and he's young, maybe he should lend some of that confidence to Hatton to fight Mayweather it appears he'll be "ready" before Hatton for Mayweather. Reminds me of a young Vargas calling out and believing he could beat Oscar and Tito, Mayweather fan or not I admire that.

we all know it will never happen, mayweather will be out of the boxing game by the time khan is really ready, but I do see a good future for boxing after the p4p is retired with prospects like khan and joel julio and a few others
