Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Ready For All-Comers, Golovkin, Canelo, Chavez

It was certainly a let down for Gilberto Ramirez that after capturing the WBO super middleweight title last April against Arthur Abraham that he was then sidelined the rest of 2016 after an injury to his right hand caused him to pull out of his first scheduled title defense in July against Dominick Britsch.

But instead you're fighting a guy at 168 who Saunders got criticized for when he was gonna fight him at 160.

Wake me up when this clown stops talking and starts fighting real fighters

2 of the 3 guys he called out are smaller than him. Lame.

“Matt is now a promotional free agent,” said Mike Borao, Korobov’s manager. “Bob [Arum] called me a couple weeks ago and offered a fight against [WBO] 168-pound champion Gilberto Ramirez. That bout was quickly accepted by Matt, but Top Rank came back a short period later and said, to their surprise, Ramirez didn’t want the fight. Top Rank is a tremendous promoter, but besides Ramirez didn’t really have anyone for us to fight within their stable. To their credit, Bob was very honorable and we were able to work out a release.”
Matt Korobov’s manager has informed BoxingScene.com that the middleweight contender has negotiated a release from his promotional contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. The Russian-born Korobov (27-1, 14 KOs) hopes the release enables him to land big fights in either the middleweight or super middleweight divisions. The decorated amateur is ranked at middleweight by the WBO (No. 9), WBC (No. 10) and IBF (No. 12).

Andy Lee only ever had 1 fight at 154, and he said he felt weak and drained at the weight.

I'm pretty sure that the rest of the middleweight division breathed a sigh of relief when Andy Lee overcame the odds and scorecards to knock Korobov out. Quillin vacated so avoid him and no other middleweights other than Golovkin have even tried to make a fight with him. I'm not saying he's better than Ramirez but he was offered the fight, a competitive fight, and is instead facing Bursak.
