It makes the TV product alone so much better.
Markets have to be able to support events. Not familiar with the boxing scene in B-more though. His popularity has skyrocketed under TMT, so I'll reserve judgment, but after this mandatory, a fight in B-more might be a great look for that market.

That's what promoters are for though. They're supposed to create that buzz. Nowadays most don't seem to do anything except make TV deals.

If Hearn can sell out arenas in the UK, then surely it can be done in big cities like Baltimore. Doesn't even have to be a big arena to start with. It's not like US promoters are relying on the live gate anyway, which in itself is part of the problem.

This is actually a very good fight

Been very impressed by liam walsh.

If he has a good set of whiskers and can take tanks punches....he should win IMO.

Broner, Easter Jr, Crawford and Wilder all seem to get good home crowds, so it's not unheard of

The atmosphere at the Easter vs Cruz show was no worse than at any British card of similar size

I'd exclude the three Ohio guys. That state has a long and storied boxing tradition (similar to Michigan). They all benefit from being from that state. Fans are familiar with boxing there. There's a reason so many champions have come from Ohio recently.

Hearn has talked about promoting shows in America. Some of those events are tragic. Like DeGale and Medina and Jack and Bute.

It would be interesting if Hearn did take an American prospect and promote him in America or even promote him here!

I wonder if Hearn could take a foreign prospect and promote him over here. Like if we had a young GGG tearing it up would we sell out the 02 for him against another foreign opponent in a big fight? If we got the whole Hearn and Sky machine behind him.

I know nationality in sport is really entrenched over here due to such a long culture of competing internationally in sport. George Orwell said serious sport is war without the shooting specifically team sport. Orwell was talking about Arsenal playing a touring team of Soviets when he said that. And really that is still how we think about sport in the main in this country. Yanks are different as they play their team sports amongst themselves.

But I'd love someone to have a crack.

Hearn could actually have a go. Ortiz is a toe in the water but he's old and as yet he's done nothing with him.
