Because he has better options at 160 currently. Jacobs is one and canelo is the other. If the canelo fight happens and he beats him he can move up then because then there would be nothing left at 160. He also wants to break hopkins record and unify 160. There is really no point to move up there are no really big fights at 168 for him unless he consider badou jack or degale a bigger fight than canelo.

No one is ever going to compare him to hopkins....if Hopkins was in his prime at 160 gaylovekin would be moving his azz down just to get away from him. And what?
