I knew that something was fishy when Mack said that he was going over to Europe planning to beat Calzaghe, Kessler and Marcus Beyer and come back to the USA a big hero. He hardly had any wins against world class fighters before the fight with Berrios:

Look at the guys he's beaten! Most are journeymen, beginners and bums. The 2 best guys he beat are Donnell Wiggins and Randy Griffin. He had a swelled head, plain and simple, and now he needs to go back to the gym and get his act together.

On the positive side, Mack has a good, clean style and decent technique. He was just outhustled and outpunched by Berrios who is clearly under-rated. Neither man clinched or ran and I loved the fight. It was full of toe-toe slugging and good inside fighting. Berrios' uppercut was the biggest factor. Even Ray Mancini said that Mack wasn't doing anything to defend against it, not moving his head, taking a step back or using his gloves to protect his chin.

Anyway, Mack looked past Berrios and paid a heavy price. Let's see if he learns anything from this loss or whether his career as a contender is over.

he has absolutely no lateral movement or head movement

stepping up in class will continue to produce the same results

yeah that and he fought the wrong fight. from what i've seen of Mack he boxed more in previous fights. in this fight he seemed to get out of that and was trying to fight in the trenches with Berrio. obviously the wrong move, he got slowed down with the body shots and eventually started taking cleaner shots to the dome piece. it wasn't a terrible beating, it was a beat down but nothing he can't come back from and learn from to make himself better in the future. unless he's a headcase and can't get over his first loss.......
