Comments Thread For: Thurman: Garcia Hasn't Faced Real Challenges at Welterweight

NEW YORK Keith Thurman respects Danny Garcia's accomplishments within the junior welterweight division. As a welterweight, though, Thurman doesn't believe Garcia has truly established himself as one of the best 147-pounders in boxing. Philadelphia's Garcia is 3-0 as a full-fledged welterweight, but victories over Paulie Malignaggi, Robert Guerrero and Samuel Vargas haven't impressed Thurman all that much.

I agree. Thurman at least fought guys that can punch, like Collazo, Chaves, Soto Karass.

Thurman needs to focus on tonight and not worry about who Danny Garcia hasn't fought. The funny thing is, since Thurman started fighting B+ fighters he hasn't knocked anybody out in 3 years. On top of that, he's been hurt several times by fighters who don't have a high knock out rate. One time better bring his A-game this time before his time is over.

Garcia has 2 ko wins against Paulie and Samuel Vargas not elite comp lol he struggled with Robert the ghost early before coming back and won a close decision against Lamont Peterson so he's not lighting it up. But if he wins this he'll have made his point in the welterweight division.

The thing about this fight is that both fighters make me question them. although Thurman beat Porter and I am picking him to win in the back of my mind is that body shot that stunned him against Callazo.. And on the other hand Garcia got beat by Herrera in Puerto Rico which should have been a easy cherry pick victory even though they gave him the W. That's what makes this fight so interesting which fighter will show up, the Thurman who beat Porter or the Garcia who beat Matthysee. Who wins?? Lol I pick Thurman but won't be surprised either way.

If the fight lasts more than 6 rounds, it's all Keith Thurman.
