Why do boxing promoters schedule big fights on massive UFC weekends?

UFC 209 falls on the same day as Garcia Thurman. I don't understand the logic, surely, the stacked UFC card will effect Thurman/Garcia numbers.

Why not have the fight a week prior? They keep doing this, it's going to hurt their numbers.

Not really. UFC 209 isn't a big deal. Khabib - Ferguson is a big fight for hardcore MMA fans, casuals couldn't care less. The main event is also pretty ho-hum for a PPV. Plus Garcia-Thurman is free, it won't impact the boxing numbers much, if at all..

As a brit, I despise this as Im staying up past the Haye Bellew fight to watch the Garcia Thurman bout, I know im going to end up pulling 209 up on a second monitor though as I can watch it on 1080p as we have a UK broadcater for UFC.

Sucks that theyve scheduled the latter two the same... but at the same time anyone that wants top disturb my solid 9 hours of people knocking **** out of one another can **** right off.

Thompson - Woodley 2 is not ho-hum whatsoever lol..

I know this is a boxing forum.. but that 209 main event is currently the best UFC match scheduled this year.

Woodley Thompson is not really a big fight a la Conor or Ronda though. I would agree scheduling Garcia-Thurman on one of those dates is ******, but Woodley-Thompson is prob a 250K buy event at best. Don't get me wrong, I like UFC as well, but this isn't a big weekend for UFC..
