    Should all boxers do polls?

I've been saying for years that it would be better if boxers posted polls with potential matchups and the public voted. It would result in the fights that should be made & cut out cherry picking.

If this was the case, which fights would we see this year?

Also like the other thread says, props to Manny for honoring his poll. Although it is the most lucrative fight and a low risk of KO so the obvious pick.

No. A good champion fight the best and most deserving challenger. Polls are a popularity contest. Almost nobody thinks Khan is the best welterweight Pacquiao could fight. Khan has a big fan club and they probably all voted twice or more.

the main problem with your idea is that 99% of all fighters have no control whatsoever as to who their opponent is. They have signed away that right to either their manager, their promoter, or both.

Nope, only the ones on top can even pretend like the fans matter more than the bodies. If you don't appease the bodies they don't give you ****, and the bodies have shown time and time again they don't give a **** if the fans don't like what they get up to.

Do you think fighters would still bother with letter belts if the fans told them not to? Of course they would, it's not the fans who ordered the belts in the first place. It's the same racket, more champs equals more money. Make a lot of belts, set up paths to keep the best separate and awarded, and keep plenty of undeserves in the ranking so the champions can check that "defended against the top ten" box without facing anyone worth a damn.

Everyone blames the fighters for their resumes, but take a peek at who was ordered to fight who and for what reward. The bodies tell X to fight Y we'll give you a letter belt. then tell X to defend your letter belt against Q, R, and T and we'll give you a world title elim with U. How much blame should we place on the fighter for fighting those fights instead of the one the fans wanted? On one hand you've fan pressure that might get you a title, on the other hand you have a guaranteed path from the agency that assigns the championship.

This is why HW don't break ranks. They can't just jump weight divisions and give the illusion of taking on challenges so they stay where they're guaranteed more opportunities and run their mouths. It's also why none of them seem scared of each other, they all call each other out, and they still don't make the best fights possible. I know fans like to pick a HW and claim he's the one not scared while everyone else is scared of him, but the truth is the HW are all willing to fight it's the bodies who want to keep them separate.
