Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: I've Always Been Underrated; Wins Excused Away!

Danny Garcia gave up thinking about pound-for-pound lists, official odds on his fights and people's opinions of his boxing career long ago. The WBC world welterweight champion came to accept that no matter what he does, his critics will dissect his closest calls more than they'll emphasize the impressive victories that have placed Philadelphia's Garcia in the prominent position he occupies.

I agree that DSG is a true champion...but he hasn't looked good in a while, and his opposition since Lucas hasn't been anything to get excited about. This fight is going to reveal a lot of lingering unknowns about DSG.

lol, we already know who Garcia is at this point. This fight is going to reveal a lot about Thurman. His opposition has been okay since Mathysse. Herrera,Peterson,Gurrero, andMalignaggi compared to Thurmans Bundu,Soto Karrass,Collazo,Julio Diaz etc. The guy has more or less made a career out of beating up senior citizens.

His opposition has been Ok except his 2 wins over Herrera and Peterson are questionable. You conveniently omitted Porter's name off of Thurman's opponents. The version of Porter he beat is better than the fought version of any other fighter you listed.

            This is true.

Certain "fans" will never give DSG his just do.

It'll show a lot about BOTH guys. Thurman has had vulnerable moments in each of his past few fights, and despite being known as "one time," that's exactly how many stoppages the guy's had in his last 6 fights.

Garcia on the other hand, could have 2 losses in his record already.

That being said, I have to agree that the odds are a bit high. This fight is more 50/50 than Brook-Spence, imo. Pulling for Keith, but because of the odds, money will be placed on DSG.

This was true in 2013, when he beat Matthysse.

Then he managed a highly disputed win over Herrera that most think he did not deserve. Then he squeaked a victory over Peterson where he looked like the lesser fighter. Then he looked vulnerable against Robert Guerrero.

It's been a long time since Danny Garcia has picked up an impressive win. He has a big chance here.

                  danny

he is a stand up guy---no bells or whistles. I think he lost the fight in Rico ...Lamont --he had the fight & did some ****** playing when he had Danny. Danny can hammer..
At this weight..I am not so sure. His hook is a bad baby.

Thurman..HUM.. He is a jump in bean boxer.

I think this will be a good show...And because I am old

Nice to see a good one I don't have to dig out my extra cash for.
