I am fairly sure they used to be friendly though. I can't remember why exactly, i'm sure i've seen a video in the past where Bellew said Haye is a friend of his.

They were acquaintances at least so i'm not sure where the animosity as come from.

I actually think it started out as hype and has actually become personal though.

      It's called selling the fight.

Well of course, but i mean looking at Haye today and some other things they have said, it's gone beyond that into disliking each other and personal.

That's what i mean, i think at the start they were just selling the fight but maybe the more they sold it and talked, the more they actually crossed over into genuinely disliking each other.

Look at Haye today, that wasn't acting or selling the fight. That was real. And Bellew has been making comments about Haye not seeing his kids and also alluding to the fact Haye has been roiding. I don't think Haye would be game for Bellew going that far if they're just both in on selling the fight.

I suppose they might have just been acquaintances simply from being part of the british boxing scene which seems quite close knit in a way. Once they actually got to be involved with each other, they probably quickly realised they dislike each other.

Ohara Davies is fcuking annoying. Why doesn't he fight a real opponent, like Robbie Davies, Jr.? Instead he's fighting old man Derry Mathews at a weight Derry has never fought.

Would this fight be PPV if they didnt 'hate each other' ?

Ive noticed boxing is becoming more and more like Wrestling in terms of building and selling fights, this is no different.

Hearn is a Aldi version of vince mcmahon.

Tell me this, would sky/ hearn be able to put on HALF of his PPV show's per year without the huge casual fanbase?

Casuals don't really care about boxing, they care about storylines, bad blood, press conferences with WWE style acting and swearing etc

When you're emotionally invested, then you will invest your money in the snakeoilsalesmans product, when in reality all boxing nerds like you and i, know fully well this is not even a real fight, it might even end inside of 45 seconds.

If you watch the video, at one point when Haye is at the mic kicking off, Hearn leans over to Bellew & says "he's getting emotional" and basically actions to him keep going.

The presser was hilarious to be fair, the crowd were proper funny. It was all set up obv to annoy Haye and it worked I suppose lol. Bellews banking on haye going all out early and wearing himself out, getting him as angry as possible is their plan.

However Bellew is still going nap time imo, I'd be shocked if it goes to points and even more if Bellew somehow won.

TS, you took the time to make a thread to share this, so you care about people watching it, so you need to specify the time frame that you want us to see Haye losing it so we can comment on it.
He only has 30 something posts so we can give him a pass this time around. On the bright side, at least we know he isn't an alt. I think?

Well thats absolutely true. This is a nonsense fight, but i still feel somewhere along the line its become genuinely personal. It doesn't really make it a better fight though, it's a mismatch.

Hearn has admitted that he and Sky were working together to target a new audience and bring a different kind of boxing fan to the sport and they're doing that really. Look at Joshua's audience, i'd say a good 90% of them barely even watch boxing at all.

I understand it and it's business. I still don't believe it should be at the expense of creating mismatches like this though.

I also think Hearn often puts his business too far ahead of his fighters sometimes. Obviously he's going to put his business first, it's only right but to the degree of throwing in Tony Bellew with David Haye or Kell Brook with Golovkin to get his eye socket caved in? Or even putting Dave Allen in with Luis Ortiz, that fight should have NEVER been sanctioned and the last Callum Smith fight.

Someone will get seriously hurt in one of these mismatches.

It's a shame because with their ability to sell fights they could be putting on good match ups and doing good buisness too.
