With all this obsession about chin and such and such fighters not being able to take a punch (Jacobs, Joshua, etc.), nobody mentions the fact that Fury was dropped heavily by a cruiser. Does that mean his chin is weak?

Not really as he got back up and knocked Cunningham out
If you watch the fight he was just clowning around when he got dropped

People did used to accuse Tyson of having a weak chin. He does a good job of keeping it out of harm's way though. His feet and hands were positioned awfully for the Cunningham KD if I remember right, so it seemed like just a lapse. He recovered quickly, unlike AJ against Whyte

I suppose a case could be made.. but he didnt seem buzzed by it all too greatly and smacked **** out of the guy for about 3 rounds before he Ko'd him.

Still Lineal HW champ of the world so cant really take too much from him i guess

I suppose it is more about the recovery and Cunningham is a pretty decent fighter. Fury also got dropped by that Canadian Pajcic? fell pretty sweetly there too.

But...Surely if you are 15 stone plus and you hit someone on the button with 10 ounce gloves on they should at least go down?

I find it hard to criticise heavyweight chins. They could all conceivably be knocked out with one shot.

I don't think so, Cunningham just caught him with a shot at the right time that sent him backwards and down. Fury wasn't hurt and got straight back up. Wlad hit him flush with a shot and Fury just waved him back on.

I think fans today put too much emphasis on a knockdown. The general consensus was that Ali had a great chin, but Henry cooper had him on ***** street to the point they had to buy time for Ali. It happens sometimes. Anyway, it's not like Cunningham or any cruiserweights are small men. They're still bigger than your average guy and if they catch you flush in the right spot, it can put you down.

I think with Joshua its more the fact he's taken literally 1 flush shot in his career, looked really hurt and stiffened up for 2 rounds. That's probably when there might be a doubt about someones chin. Getting dropped by a well timed shot and getting up without seeming hurt at all isn't the sign of a bad chin, it probably happens in sparring all the time to good fighters with good chins.

He got dropped by a guy with like 20% KO ratio too. I think his chin is below average, he doesn't get caught clean often though.

He's been dropped twice by very weak punchers so Idk, he's really slick so most fighters don't get to his chin, and other Wlad he's never faced a power puncher

I actually think Joshua recovered pretty quickly against Whyte

Absolutely not. He has a great chin. He got caught by surprise with a perfect punch by a 215 pound boxer. He was up in a flash an didn't seem hurt at all. One flash knockdown in an entire career that includes fights with big punchers is not a weak chin.
