Haha he can't take anymore of these fights against non champs or guys not ranked in the top 5. I get this one because of the failed PED tests of the other guys, but now the free ride is over. No more fighting in 'Bama. It's Vegas or soccer stadiums. I wasn't paying attention here in the post fight interview--did they bring up Joshua or was it just Parker?Originally posted by Andrij View PostIf Breazeale beats Wilder then Joshua cant stop laughing until the end of the year.

Still like Izu POTENTIAL he can work his way back. Offensively he is fine, Stamina and Defense needs a lot of work. He kept pulling straight back with his hands down but he moves so well for his size and has as good jab so it is something to work with.
Stamina made taking punches very difficult for him more so than him just having a weak chin

I think this fight just shows you why superheavyweights have started to dominate the HW division.
Even a stiff, far less technically skilled and predicatable 6'7'' 260+lbs somewhat athletic boxer like Breazeale simply has the power to punish even the smallest mistakes from these cruiserweightish HWs like Izu (who was only 230 lbs) in devastating fashion. And someone as big as Breazeale also likely has the chin and the toughness to whether the storm when hit flush by the smaller man.
The only cruiserweightish guys who can have success at modern HW are guys like Haye or Wilder who have huge power for their size and stocky fighters like Povetkin who know how to fight short and close the range with footwork in movement. But other cruiserweights would struggle big time even against mediocre super-HWs. If Usyk can somehow win the title at HW in the future and string together a few solid title defenses via his technical skills it should be counted as a huge achievement. He would basically be fighting guys who are 30, 50 pounds heavier. Compare that to fighters from lighter divisions *****ing about catchweights and arguing about mere 2 or 3 pounds.
That's why I find it laughable when people think the HWs of old could compete with modern HWs. Put Marciano or Louis against someone like Breezy and it's a tough fight for them. I'm not saying they couldn't win but every fight against these huge super-heavyweights would likely be a war for them and would take a lot out of them, shortening their careers.

You can beat DB with power but you need to have really huge power and some skills to put him down for good. Joshua vs DB is definitely one of the fights that shows that Joshua is elite-level even if DB is not exactly a marquee name on the resume. It's more about the way he won the fight.
Also for example guys like Fury would outbox DB with ease and Pulev and Klitschko would jab him all night long, Ortiz would be landing that left hand and countering, Povetkin would close the range and bring the fight to him and KO him in brutal fashion eventually, Haye would hayemaker him and Wilder would probably land the right hand somewhere in the 8th or 9th round of a fun fight. He's basically the kind of opponent where the elite shows why exactly their style and their skillset works against a tough but basic opponent. But for the rest of the division DB is a huge test.Last edited by RedZmaja; 02-26-2017, 12:24 AM.
