IMHO Canelo, having fought Mayweather and his highlight KO of popular Brit star Khan, mismatch that it was, is a popular brand and well known internationally and really doesn't gain a lot from fighting GGG. Here's how GGG gains from a fight from Canelo:
1. Increases his popularity stock. Let's face it only die hard boxing fans know who he is.
2. Win, lose or draw he gets name recognition when he shares the ring with an A calibre fighter and there's always the possibility of a rematch.
3. A gem on his resume that adds credibility to his claims as a great European fighter.
I suspect GGG and his team know this and rejection of $15 million was just a pretence, knowing fully well that $15 was a reasonable sum but not enough to risk a loss. Even if it means turning down the opportunity to be catapulted to fame. No, they'd rather fight in obscurity and be in mediocre fights if it means holding the belt for a few more years.
