They were supposed to have one heavyweight champion, and with the Fury fiasco, there is no "super" champion currently but the Klitschko-Joshua fight will be for the vacant "super" title...what gives?

Funny because they said the wanted to cut down the number of titles and have 1 per division last year.

Chagaev never gave the rematch, forcing the WBA to agree to give Oquendo a shot.

Who forced the WBA? There was no ruling for the WBA to do so. The ruling was for Chagaev, the suit was against Chagaev's promoter. The WBA voluntarily gave Oquendo the shot.

"On May 22nd, the Court ruled for Oquendo on both of his claims: CCC Terek was ordered pay Oquendo damages of $775,000 plus interest. CCC Terek was also enjoined from promoting or managing Chagaev in any bout for the WBA heavyweight championship, or in any bout at which Chagaev's WBA championship would be at stake, unless Oquendo was challenging Chagaev. To make sure CCC Terek could not find a loophole to escape the ruling, the decision also barred CCC Terek from transferring any of its promotional rights so that Chagaev can fight for another promotional company. CCC Terek was further barred from seeking the WBA's sanction of any bout involving Chagaev until he fights Oquendo again."

they were if they didn't want the title held hostage forever. they settled with oquendo so the title could remain active with the promise that oquendo would get his federally mandated title shot eventually.

What a lousy horrible nothing fight between 50yr old lunatic Briggs and Fres nobody knows Oquendo. Who would be dumb enough to buy a ticket for this toilet flush fight? Buy a 9 roll of charmin and get 4 tickets for Briggs and Fres. What a joke. If 60 people show up it's a stunner.
