You guys do realize Roy Jones Jr doesn't even train for his fights now?

I was reading some guys comments saying the last serious training camp Roy had was for Tito Trinidad which was Roys last great performance.

Some guy said for one of Roys most recent fights he didn't even bother sparring, he just made sure to make weight and was busy doing commentary gigs for HBO and went overseas to fight.

I wonder whats wrong with Roy? he is a genetic freak, but he doesn't seem to care anymore, it shows in his body and his fights.

Imagine if he still had that super hunger like B hop who isn't even half as blessed as Roy in the athletic department.

I think Roy could have still been a top dog and a freak in his 40s, if he took his training, diet and nutrition serious. I know some guys who are 50 something who look like they are 30 years old solid lean muscle and they can run and stay in shape year round.

I heard the only reason he fights is to make money, because he lost alot in failed investments in music and a sports basketball team from years ago.

I wondered this too. Roy has clearly just been coasting on his natural genetic advantage(without even focusing on conditioning!) vs sub-par opposition for a quick, easy paycheck. He could of remained competitive and significant for longer if he had kept up with his conditioning like Hopkins. You can tell from his physique he just doesn't care at all. For an athlete and genetic freak like Roy, getting ripped (even in his 40's) shouldn't be difficult. His heart obviously isn't in boxing anymore on the high level, but he still wants to be a part of that world. He can't leave the ring, but he doesn't want to fully commit to training either.

Roy Jones still trains, but he does not have professional camps. He should realistically be fighting at 175 still! the only reason why he has been getting stopped is because? he is fighting at unnatural weight classes! I really enjoyed Roy Jones last hurrah at 175, his fights up against Jeff Lacey and even his effort against Calzaghe was admirable! Right about now? he is going out, like all the great fighters go out! they fight until there is nothing left inside....."Its the warriors way! deal with it!"....

The Roy Jones who Calzaghe beat would probably beat Andre Ward! stylistically Andre Ward does not hit hard enough, and his work rate is to low! Roy Jones was still pretty fast aswell...

You guys might be right and I didn't see him in person but his conditioning and physique seemed fine to me on-screen. He's a small cruiser but looks fit.

He can't run anymore due to bad knees.

He can't get the weight off to make LHW.

His last really serious camp was against Calzaghe.

            He can't do roadwork.

The version of Roy who fought Joe would never be able to beat Andre.
