I agree. Peterson boxed well in the first round. After that he walked forward with a high guard, and Avenesyan seemed to outwork him a good portion of the time. I thought Peterson pulled it out in the last few rounds, but the fight didn't need to be that hard. He should have boxed from the outside.Comment

I saw Petersen having trouble fighting from range due to the way the russian was cutting the ring off and using the jab. Petsersen would have never risked a loss to "work on some things" that's insane, this is prize fighting. All three judges would have had him losing the fight if he would not have swept the last 3 rounds. I t was a bad stye fight for peterson, and the russian was better than we all though. If Peterson had boxed from long range he would have made this an easier fight. Even the announcers were noticing how Avanesyan couldn't cut off the ring.
But as Ray Corso says maybe Peterson wanted to work on some things. And this guy was the perfect opponent to do it against since he wasn't that big of a puncher.Comment

Paulie Malignaggi specifically said that Avanesyan didn't know how to cut off the ring. That Lamont was there to be hit not because of anything Avanesyan was doing but because Lamont chose to stand right there in front of him.
That's what I saw as well.Comment
