It wasn't a dive. Malik has beaten down friends and sparring partners before to get the Ws. Deontay was the better man that night and he got the job done. Simple as that.

It was as much of a dive as Golovkin-Rubio. But you only see Boxing Scene's resident lunatics bring up Wilder-Scott all the time, as if that fight holds any relevance today.

Idk if Wilder and Co were in on it but they did say they were friends prior to the fight didn't they? I think we all know what happened there.

This isnt the only fight ,i know someone VERY good and confronted him about it recently, and lets just say he was very elusive about this answer. And it was WORSE than this one. not sure why Wilder would need guys to purposely fold b/c he would have won anyway early in his career ,but his camp probably feared punchers who can win with one punch and didnt take chances in some fights?

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Eminem wrote a song about this fight.

                  He put lives at risk
                  with a right like this
                  Malik dives and quits
                  in a fight like this

                  Cause they never knew why
                  Wilder would get this big
                  they never knew why
why he would wreck this kid
