Comments Thread For: Oscar Valdez vs. Miguel Marriaga Could Be Coming Up

The return of WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (21-0, 19KOs) could take place in April, either on tentative dates of the 8th or 22nd of that month. According to WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, a mandatory defense of his organization's featherweight title is long overdue.

Valdez is a very special talent. I hope he gets a name after this with $ to go along with it.

Top Rank sure has a lot of fighters in the WBO rankings.

Marez, Gary Russell, Lee Selby, Frampton, or LSC he needs one of these names.

If Valdez doesnt learn to vary the intensity on his punches instead of winging every shot from the fences as a home run, he is going to wear down or get caught during a fight and someone like Marriaga is going to catch him late. Valdez makes really dumb mistakes like that and better learn soon.

The fence is real; every single one of the names that you've mentioned are on the side of the fence that doesn't bend to Bob Arum, and that's not going to change anytime soon.

According to BoxRec, the top 7 featherweight fighters on the planet are on the other side of the fence.

If Valdez has his passport in hand, there may be a deal in place for him to go over to England to fight Scott Quigg.

Otherwise, he made his bed by signing with Bob Arum

This is the perfect next step up for Valdez imo. I love what I've seen from him so far, but Marriaga will be his best opponent to date. Excited for this fight to materialize
