It is very sad to see such an all-time great boxer reduced to this, but he was the greatest athlete in boxing, if not the greatest boxer with the fundamentals to fall back on after his reflexes and speed started to fade.

roy jones, place is secured as far as i am concerned, but
i thought, roy "superman" jones, was slacking, when he was fighting the rick fraziers of the world, but then roy jones got my upmost respect, when he went up from 175 to heavyweight, took the strap from john ruiz, then came back down, two divisions, in the next fight, to gut out a points win on a peaking antonio tarver, a long rangy southpaw who could box, a fighter all wrong for roy jones, and a fighter i thought he was avoiding, to regain the undisputed lightheavyweight titles he vacated...roy jones, beat tarver, on straight g heart that night and, left it all in the ring in that fight...and hasn't been back since...to say that roy jones, is all speed and reflexes, is an understatement...

i was fortunate, to meet roy jones, 2x in my lifetime, the second time, he was in town to call a fight for hbo last year, he was cool as all getup, took a flick with me, but as much as i wanted to ask roy jones, why he still fighting, hang 'em up you have no more to prove, you look at roy jones, dead eye center, and quickly ascertain that, if he ain't fighting, he ain't breathing...only thing i could say to roy jones was, keep doing your thing man, and he acknowleged me like he knew excactly what i was talking about...

I ignore everything after the Ruiz fight. He ruined his body coming back to 175. He looked nothing like his old self in the first Tarver fight.

Roy was the best fighter of my lifetime and that is how I will always remember him.

That's how I feel. And Big L was hella good rapper

The Writer is a dummy ...... you dont take take a boxers WHOLE career and grade them on it ,you critique a fighter when they are at their peak or still relevant at least . Who cares if some know RJJ from his commentary job and rate him on that and his past prime losses and doubt hes a ATG , that would make them dummies too wouldn't it ?
