Comments Thread For: Showtime's Espinoza: Mayweather vs. McGregor Could Happen

The saga between retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC superstar Conor McGregor continues to play out in the press and social media. Rumors ran wild on Tuesday, after McGregor arrived to Las Vegas to allegedly meet face to face with Mayweather to close a deal for a mega pay-per-view boxing match.

Well if Haymon and White really did meet then the only real obstacle is money. It's hard to imagine that they won't find a way to split a couple hundred million. If Haymon and Arum figured it out after years of hate, slander, lawsuits, etc., then Haymon and White will figure it out too.

Make it a Showtime/UFC joint PPV and it will rival Mayweather-Pacquiao's records.

Retired Floyd is more obnoxious than retired Froch... That says something!

          Showtime's Espinoza:

"We can go through the history - there were fights that were uniformly expected to be one-sided but, when they happened, there was a much different result. The Oscar De La Hoya-Manny Pacquiao fight was criticised but it turned out differently. It's no foregone conclusion that this is a Mayweather victory - yes, he is one of the most skilled boxers of modern times but McGregor has his own set of assets and strengths."

          True. Remember also:

David vs Goliath, Theseus vs The Minotaur - nobody gave him a cat in hell's chance in that one - Achilles vs 1000 Trojans, Jason vs The Gorgon ... and Hercules not only choked a gigantic lion to death with his bare hands, he also got a draw against Zeus himself in a wrestling match!

Another huge distraction for Espinoza. This guy never learned anything from the TBE hype machine. He loves giving huge guarantee to a boring fighter while screwing his network. Showtime had the feeling of closing shop just right after the superfight. And here he is doing it all over again.

He should be focusing on making Haymon fighters active, not this useless fight.

Uhm yes De La Hoya-Pacquaio result was a surprise or shock, but both were professional world champion boxers, and great too. McGregor hasn't fought in the square ring as a pro at this stage. And how to get out of that Ufc contract, that is so difficult.

And Floyd wont be coming into the ring dehydrated like a dried up prune, Oscar Manny was the poorest analogy Espinoza could have used.
