In regards to Cuadras rematch - if it's ok for floyd to look after his health, it should be ok for Gonzalez to do it also, considering he'd just been in a foty candidate.

Looked like he would have had a bit of trouble eating for a week or so after the fight too.

Classy move. Usually fighters and promoters don't give a s**t what fans think and follow through with their mismatches.

Estrada is almost universally recognized as Mexico's P4P #1 fighter though, and the Mexican fans and media are very tough to please so they didn't have much of a choice.

Don't compare gonzalez to floyd. Cuadras and Estrada were his toughest fights and he acts like he needs 100 million for rematches.

maidana and Castillo were floyds toughest fights, he gave them immediate rematches. No money excuses were given

I wonder how Sosa feels about his pay day being snatched away from him like that

Honestly I was OK with one more tune-up for Estrada just to test out his hand. You don't want it getting re-injured halfway through a fight against someone like Casimero for example

Whatever the reason, great move by the promoter and I wish more of them would do the same and listen to fans. More than half of the "title fights" listed at any one time on boxrec are ridiculous mismatches and set up fights to milk paper belts

Reduce that number by a hundred and you have a point.

Chocolatito is on top of p4p, just moved up and beat #1 guy in the next division.

And he barely made a mill from that fight. He's absolutely right to raise a stink about being underpaid.

His purse against Cuadras was actually only $400k, despite headlining the card. HBO and K2 could definitely dig a little deeper into their pockets next time. Personally I'd like to see him and Cuadras get double for the rematch ($800k for Roman, $500k for Carlos)

Estrada and Roman are two of my favorite fighters but 800k for roman and 500 whatever for him is wishful thinking. Who besides the hardcores are demanding for this fight? Neither guys puT enough asses in the seats to command that type of payday. Being perceived as a number one p4p fighter dont equate to million dollar paydays. P4p is subjective anyways and it dont mean sht.

This aint no Carbajal- chiquita.. it is closer to Finito-Alvares and how much do you think they received for the rematch?

This is a problem today and it'll only get worse . Every fighter wants to marinate a fight like Floyd-Pacquaio in hopes a getting the maximum pay. I cant knock on that but it just sucks for the fans..

Yes, irrespective of the REAL reasons, it makes a pleasant change!

Hopefully they move Estrada towards a big fight with one of the big names in the division ASAP.

Roughly 850,000 people tuned in to Gonzalez vs. Cuadras, which is not bad in the context of HBO's poor 2016. There were other headliners who drew roughly the same amount of viewers and got paid much better for it (e.g. Crawford and Lomachenko)
