Shakur Stevenson and Top Rank Inc. revealed via Twitter on Thursday that the 2016 Olympic silver medalist has signed a contract with Bob Arum's promotional company. The Newark, New Jersey native was courted by numerous promoters, including Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s self-named company and Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports, during a long process that began nearly six months ago. Stevenson ultimately signed with the Las Vegas-based company that helped build American Olympians such as Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya into superstars.

Arum builds up fighters and has a huge roster so it's a good move.

Arum has done a great job building up stars over the years but you gotta wonder how long he has left. Hopefully Shakur has enough time with him to be built up enough.

Arum knows how to build boxers like no other. He has the best match makers in the business.

Plus i think Stevenson's plan is to have arum build him up then break free like odlh, mayweather etc. when the time is right.

Very smart move. He knows that Top Rank can get his career started out and build him up the right way.

Hands down no other promotional outfit can build a fighter up from scratch and make them a star like Top Rank can. Once he gets to a point in his career where he is happy about his star status then he can move on to another outfit ala Oscar, Floyd and Cotto. But to start his career out the right way, being with Top Rank is perfect and a smart move.

Shocked this happened. I figured Shakur was going to sign with Mayweather Promotions or Roc Nation.

Great Job by Top Rank signing the best prospect of the United States team.

Interested to see what network Shakur debuts on. Bob Arum still has a fast ball left and is making big time future moves.

                  Top rank is retooling nicely.

Conlan and Stevenson could very well carry their company for years to come.

What a surprise, but yet again they Have Craford, Pacman, Lomachenko. For sure they are top five pound for pound according to boxrec.com
