Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr. Shreds Pintor For His Comments on Canelo Fight

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. took offense to the recent comments that were made by fellow Mexican legend Guadalupe "Lupe" Pintor. In a recent interview, Pintor was highly critical of Julio's son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and gave heavy praise to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Chavez Jr. and Canelo will fight each other on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. There is a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds in place for the contest.

Obviously Sr. is going to take up for Jr. That's just life. As for Pintor's comments, I agree. Canelo did work his way up and developed as a fighter. Jr. had every advantage and the biggest name in Mexico. he squandered it. Canelo is the better fighter and will win in May. I have no doubt. I still think Sr. is the best Mexican fighter ever, but his son just doesn't bust his a$$ the way Sr. did. It happens. Very few highly successful people get matched or outdone by their offspring. No big deal really.

It's true. While Canelo has benefited from his appearance, he did start from nothing. He built his career. And no matter what you think of it, you don't compete with a guy like Lara because you're a hypejob, no matter who you thought won. Meanwhile Julio was born a richboy with the name of the greatest Mexican boxer Mexicans believe to have ever lived. And he STILL managed to **** it all up.
