Just because someone isnt going to be world class does not mean they have to jack it in. Only a very limited few become world champions.

Even beside that point, i think theres steps david price can take to improve and i think he can get to fringe world level. That right hand is lethal, thats god given power which many heavyweights could only wish they had. Joshua knows first hand what its like to be caught by that.

Apparantly david price looks very good in the gym, so some of the technical talent is there. Hammers a decent fighter to be honest, hes not a bum but hes not elite. You'd be hard pressed to give hammer a round, price dropped him, and i thought some of the body work price was putting in was really good. However, as he has done before, he gassed and panicked.

Whether he can be a top top heavyweight i doubt, but i dont think hes a hopeless case.

I think dave coldwell was a bad choice and i think hes a trainer with few credentials. I think the state he came in physically for that fight was disgusting, and thats something that can be vastly improved with a better S&C coach. I fail to believe he is some cardio king like dave coldwell made out, when he is in that shape and weight.

Im not sure that price is seeing one already, but surely a good sports psychologist would be able to help?

To me the main fault seems to be in two areas that could potentially both be addressed, fitness and nerves, and it seems to be a shame that he would retire rather than work on these aspects of his game.

So, do people think price should continue? If so, can he improve? Is the psychological issue that easy to combat? Any suggestions for trainers that would help to get the best out of him?
He should just keep at it. Im sure he will be paid well to be a gatekeeper. dylan white, chisora, izu, hughy fury, even andy ruiz would be good matchups.

If he is OK with being a win some loss some boxer then he could continue to box for the money for a few years. Lots of boxers make a living at it knowing they will never be a champion or a contender. He has a terribly weak chin and even if his defense improves a lot he is bound to suffer more KO losses. He makes Khan's chin look great by comparison. He is a wicked puncher himself so fans will always watch his fights and promoters will be glad to put him on their fight cards.

Exactly...down the local where he will be on free pints for the rest of his life....unlike audley harrison who became a sort of joke...at least he tried and gave it his best at every outing. He had his flaws but he manned up and kept coming....fighting actual decent heavies. He couldnt reach the top but didnt take the shortcuts to try and get there either. Have a rest david...you deserve it.

I genuinely believe he should consider getting medical tests done on himself, to investigate whether he has any underlying illness or disability! endurance is the easiest component of fitness to train and maintain, that is why you have 80 year old people completing marathon's! taking this into consideration? its not normal the way David Price gases, its as if his heart and lungs are too small for his body! if i was his coach, i would seriously advise him to visit the hospital....

David Price needed a head coach, and Dave Coldwell in my opinion has done a good job at installing confidence in Price, but he has been slightly negligent on the conditioning side of things! (These strength and conditioning coaches sometimes get in the way! if you are a boxing coach? you should have basic knowledge of strength and conditioning).....

David Price needs to stay away from these body building gyms aswell, he needs to just work on the basics! Take it back to the old school...

I think he should retire because he basically looks scared stiff in the ring and he looks like it's the last place he wants to be, unless he's fighting a total bum. He can go fight some very poor opposition and probably get a few wins but i don't think he's going to get any pay days now if he can't even get past Hammer, and the next time he loses it will probably be to some domestic level guy.

Nice guy but i think he's done and he looks like he hates being in the ring now as soon as the opponent can punch back.

Also, Coldwell made a mistake telling Price to put weight on. He used to gas in the 4th or 5th, now he gasses in the 2nd round and his punch resistance is probably no better, which is why he gained the weight. His punches look a lot more sluggish now as well.

At the end of the day he was a decent amateur who couldn't cut it beyond a decent level in the pro's. He isn't the first and won't be the last.
