How good will Amir Khan be????????

All you hear in Britain is Amir Khan is the future of british boxing, for some one who is only 18 years old and is already being tipped for world champion by a lot people. Do you think he is being put under to much pressure*already to perform even on the ameture stage and then taking the big step to perform on the professional stage already at such a young age.

Everyone knows he is talented but we have seen good young fighters never do as well as we thought they would.

Do you think he is being put under to much pressure??

    How good will he be???

lightweight at present but as a pro probably starts at welter in two years time and the simple answer is you dont know til he takes off his headgaurd and takes one on the whiskers!

he certainly has the skills and speed to be useful.

there is no telling if he will be succesful in the pro ranks, and i for one hope he does'nt go over till he's 20 at least. better fighters than khan have been fantastic amateurs but have'nt made it in the pro game. having said that he had a wonderful olympics and i hope he does well.

Just moved up from lightweight to light welterweight so when he does turn pro he will be in the most exciting weight division.

He's a good talent, very good hand speed and a lot of learning to do.

I watched him at the Olympics and he's got great handspeed as well as being pretty mobile. The accuracy of his punches was really impressive. As long as he learns his craft steadily and doesn't get lured by Warrens shilling he could do pretty well. Could he not end up a welterweight by the time he's done growing?

Amir Kahn has the potential to be awesome. He is quick and agile. His best career move would be to stay amature for the next few years as he will fight men now that have the ability of the men he willface around his 20th pro fight. All in all I can see him being a 3 weight world champion

I think Warren the perfect promoter for Kahn, he'd get learning fights for him.

The only problem is if Warren couldnt get him a genuine world title shot when he's ready, then all Kahn would need to do is change promoter.

I've seen some talented fighter put into wars by the other UK promoters, it just ruins their career before its really started.

I see your point, I guess there must be a tremendous risk on the part of the boxer in choosing a promoter/manager if they have no-one with boxing experience to advise them. It's a bit "your'e life in their hands", sometimes literally so. Hopefully if Amir can retain the affections of the British public then public/media opinion might help minimise any exploitation that might occur and steer his career in the right direction. I know an ex boxer who had dealings with Mickey Duff, and he certainly didn't do him any favours. i still think he needs a few more years on his back before he turns pro, perhaps stop maturing physically before being exposed to the potential rigours of pro contests. But that's just what I'd want for my son.
