Comments Thread For: Huge KO should herald Mikey Garcia's return to P4P prominence

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Leo Santa Cruz took a close one in Las Vegas. Carl Frampton earned a featherweight trilogy, perhaps on his home turf. But neither main-eventer was the biggest winner at the MGM Grand in late January. Instead, that honor goes to Mikey Garcia, who while fighting for just the second time in three years reintroduced himself to a crowd that might have forgotten just how good he'd been...

Not for KOing the alphabet guy alone, but KO Easter too? Now that might do it. Easter's next fight is a mismatch, he'll come out of it whole. Why not go for the best of the rest @136?

****MIKEY VS. DEJAN = KO OF THE YEAR!*****

      *****THE GARCIA BOXING DYNASTY*****

      (I Salute you)

Congratulations MIKEY GARCIA ON YOUR THIRD WORLD TITLE IN 3 DIFFERENT WEIGHT DIVISIONS!(easier said, then done haha)

MIKEY "THE BEAST SLAYER" GARCIA put on a masterclass of boxing against the undefeated WBC World Champion. Mikey is a Top 5 Pound for Pound Fighter for sure , arguably Top 3 with the potential to be #1 Pound For Pound.

+Side Note: Same night as Mikey vs. Dejan,
"EL BANDIDO" VARGAS VS. "EL ALACRAN" BERCHELT was FIGHT OF THE YEAR so far in my oppinion.( guys like Vargas deserve the big pay days as well , that's 3 years in a row top fight of the year caliber fights, do the right thing pay up and quit stealing from these fighters like Vargas , Salido etc.). Congratulations to Miguel "El Alacran" Berchelt from Cancun Mexico on your victory to win the World Tiltle at 130 pounds, you made a huge statement with your performance.

Can see an argument for Mikey being in people's top 10.

Good win for Mikey but don't get carried away people! Just because the guy he beat held a title doesn't mean ****. This fight was a mismatch the moment it was signed. Many people are giving Mikey huge credit for this win when the same people criticized Crawford for the win against the legit #2 fighter at 140 (Postol) & a few others which I don't care to name. Mikey had a huge size difference against a guy with no skills.

good win for mikey. he will unify with wins vs linares/crolla or easter. the move up to 140 i see as dangerous grounds though.

That guy that Mikey KO'd Dan Rafeal and Doug Fisher picked to beat Mikey...A mismatch is Easters fight against st a guy RANKED #15 by the IBF (How does a guy NOT even ranked top 10 get a title fight?) And is ranked like the 77 best light weight in the world that's a mismatch

Mickey Garcia can be any ranking he likes but not the only one that matters, pound for pound no.1 is reserved for the best champion to ever breath the same oxygen he allows us to breath, Lord Golovkin is the pound for pound no.1 he has wins over the likes of Wade and Monroe never before in their careers handled like they were until Lord Golovkin put his bone inside their butt holes, these guys would be locks for the hall of fame in any other era except for the one in which the current boxing pound for pound no.1 resides, these guys were just unfortunate to have been in the same century as the best boxer that ever walked this earth.

We should be honoured to be witnessing such a fabulous boxing era, one in which we have been gifted one with Lord Golovkin ruler of the nine realms.
