The WBA belt means nothing.Hopkins was the champ and Taylor beat him so that makes him the champ.I'm sure they gave the belt back to Taylor so that they could get sanctioning fees from both Sturm and Taylor.Taylor being the super champ and Sturm being the regular champ.I've heard nothing about Sturm turning down a fight with Taylor and I'm not sure I believe it.Comment

Well you just missed that thing. Sturm was indeed offered to fight Taylor in his hometown Arkansas but Sturm declined.
In fact that was the subject of a lot of trash arguements right here in this forum a few months back.Comment

Unfortunately, Sturm still holds the disgusting WBA "Regular" Middleweight Championship. The WBA has a sickening policy of recognizing two champions in any division that is unified or partially unified. It's all about the sanctioning fees.
Since Hopkins held multiple belts for years, the WBA regular title has been around for a while now, and Masoe won it from Evans Ashira over two years ago and just finally defended it for the first time in the loss vs. Sturm a few months ago.Comment

Was Sturm not offered enough money to fight Taylor? I think there is more to the story than he just turned down the fight. Plus, the guy got a dubious L on his record in the DLH fight so he is probably in no rush to fight in the US gain unless the circumstances are very much to his liking.
To his great credit, Zab Judah takes tough fights for little money and goes into the opponents home town. But you can't blame others for taking a more conservative path.Comment
