  • Gennady Golovkin has only fought 6 natural Middleweights.

As a career, natural Middleweight himself, Gennady Golovkin has only fought 6 career, natural Middleweights. This is dating back to when he first fought for the Interim WBA Middleweight title. Everyone else has came up from lower weights. Those natural Middleweights he's fought are:

    Records When Fighting GGG
    Lajuan Simon, 23-3-2 (12 KO)
    Makoto Fuchigami, 19-6 (10 KO)
    Grzegorz Proksa, 28-1 (21 KO)
    Curtis Stevens, 25-3 (18 KO)
    Martin Murray, 29-1-1 (12 KO)
    Dominic Wade, 18-0 (12 KO)

    Records Now
    Lajuan Simon, 23-5-2 (12 KO)
    Makoto Fuchigami, 23-12 (14 KO)
    Grzegorz Proksa, 29-4 (21 KO)
    Curtis Stevens, 29-5 (21 KO)
    Martin Murray, 34-4-1 (16 KO)
    Dominic Wade, 18-1 (12 KO)

None of these fighters have ever held a legit World title.

The irony of a Joe Calzaghe fan bashing some early accomplishments of another fighter.

Golovkin/Jacobs is the stage where Joe finally fought Lacy. Prior to that, Joe's career was less stellar than Golovkin's.

This is dumb - shouldnt even respond

What's your definition of "natural MW"?

Im guessing that if anyone has ever started at a weight other than MW, he's not a "natural MW" in your opinion.

How are Geale, Lemeiux & Rubio not natural MWs? The entire noteworthy part of their careers have been at MW.

and those were just the ones of the top of my head. I suspect that there are others.

Now, Im not saying his resume is stellar - It lacks top names.

That's why I don't consider him THE CHAMP at MW - yet. On March 18 we'll find out who the champ is, or is Jacobs not a top "natural MW"

Add Martin Murray to the list of dudes who apparently aren't "natural MWs", even though his entire noteworthy career has been at MW -- and now at SMW.

GGGs resume isn't ****. Its not particularly stellar either. He's fought and beat many top ten dudes at MW. But he lacks a really good name.

That's why it will take beating the #2 dude at MW (and a natural MW) for me to consider him THE MAN at MW.

and if were comparing resumes at MW, how many "natural MWs" has Canelo fought?

Absolutely ******ed thread. What's a 'natural middleweight'? Lemieux is somehow not a natural MW because he fought at 154 when he was 20 years old? Monroe is not a MW because he's fought at 155 when he started his career? Geale is not a MW because he fought at less than 160 a decade ago?

Fact - when Golovkin was 19years old he fought at Welterweight.

You trolls are trying way too hard now.
