  • Where did Porter's power go after he KO'd Malignaggi?

This is probably one of the strangest cases of missing power I have ever seen in such a short period of time. He went from a mini Mike Tyson to what a NFL player turned boxer would look like.

    Thoughts?

    He fought better oppositions.

You don't need that much power to KO Paulie.

Mere con KO'd Paulie so it's not much of a benchmark is it..
As far as Porter is concerned his opponents level increased and the rest is out there..

paulie used to have a great chin.

he was all done when he fought porter. i will say this, we never saw that kind of explosiveness before or after the paulie fight. he jumped half way across the ring to land his left hook. we never saw him do that to guys when he was coming up.

might have been a fluke / paulie being all done, his best night, some peds, or a combination of all three. guessing a combo of all three.

That's true, he took a thrashing vs Cotto, then was battered vs Hatton. He was probably done by the time he fought Khan.

I wouldn't put it past a fighter to be on PEDs, but if he was on PEDs vs Paulie, he probably was vs some other guys where we didn't see that level of performance. Sometimes having a big name in front of you is a special kind of motivation. That in addition to believing the guy in front of you can't hurt you.

He does still land good shots, its just that he isnt fighting shot former JWW's nowadays.

He might be able to generate more power if he didnt rush so much and smother his work, but then thats his style, and its what makes him so difficult to deal with.

Having true power at the top level is very rare.

This is getting off point, but how is it that we haven't got Mallinaggi/Algeri yet?

There were a lot of rumours about Porter alright. Apparently they dragged their feet over testing ahead of the Brook fight. Not sure what happened in the end.

Level of competition changed up too though. That's obviously a big factor. Paulie was gatekeeper level and was there for the taking against a top contender.
