Refining the product; PBC rolled it out, along wth a host of other advances, realized that it didn't really come across for boxing as they expected, and got rid of it when it didn't work.
Still, the standardized 20'x20' ring, the focus being placed on the fighter, clearing out the clutter in the ring to only include the fighter/chief second, the standardized black ropes with the advertising only being on the mat/corner pads, etc have all helped clean up the presentation for boxing (while still keeping a lot of the things that are natural for boxing) in a way that opens up the sport to mainstream advertisers and airing on terrestrial TV (with the treatment of the occasional cursing in the corners, in my opinion, being the last thing that needs to be fixed).
